Note the following:
* To install the 64 bit Pipeline Pilot server, use the Pipeline Pilot installer.
** Although you can install the 64 bit server on these operating systems, the 32 bit binaries are used. 64 bit binaries are supported on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.
Processor and RAM Requirements
- Processor: An Intel-compatible ≥2 GHz is required.
- RAM: A minimum of 2 GB of memory
for Discovery Studio Client and 2 GB for the Pipeline Pilot Server. Ideally, a total of 4 GB should be available if the client and server are installed on the same machine.

Supported Graphics Cards
The following graphics cards are supported. Cards that are certified have been validated with Discovery Studio. Non-certified cards are expected to work with Discovery Studio, but have not been tested. See Supported Graphics Card Drivers below for a list of supported drivers.
Note: Some ATI drivers are known to have problems when DS is run as an administrator (root).

Supported Graphics Card Drivers
Supported Grid Systems
If you are planning to install on a grid, Pipeline Pilot 7.5 supports the following grid system versions:
- SGE 6.1
- PBS Pro 9.2
- Platform LSF 7.00 Update 3
Additional Software Requirements
Pipeline Pilot
Discovery Studio requires Pipeline Pilot 7.5 with Collection Update 4 (CU4). If an existing version of Pipeline Pilot Enterprise Server 7.5 is installed, you will be prompted to update to this version during Discovery Studio installation. If you do not have an existing installation of Pipeline Pilot Enterprise Server, the required version will be installed automatically.
BLAST and profile databases
The BLAST Search (DS server) and PSI-BLAST Search protocols require a separately installed BLAST database. Scan Sequence Profiles requires a separately installed profile database. GNOME Desktop (Linux)
The Discovery Studio Client is optimized for the GNOME Desktop. We recommend that you install and configure this software, which is available on your Linux distribution media. Note that KDE Desktop is also supported.
System Libraries (Linux)
Certain system libraries may be required for the correct operation of Discovery Studio.To automatically detect which libraries may be required for your system, run the check_system.sh script, available on the Discovery Studio distribution. For details, see Required System Libraries.
